Doris M. Gengenbacher

  Doris M. “Dodie” Gengenbacher, 84, of Streator passed away Monday, November 13, 2023 at the ARC of Streator.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 17th at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church, Streator.

  Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, November 16th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  The rosary will be recited at 6:45 P.M.

  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. 

  Born May 20, 1939 in Streator, she was the daughter of Henry and Mildred (Wolfe) Lechner.  She married Ronald E. Gengenbacher on October 22, 1960 at Immaculate Conception Church, Streator.  He preceded her in death on April 12, 2007.

  She is survived by a daughter, Lori (Jeff) Plichta of Streator; sons, Ronald (Elaine) Gengenbacher of Aurora and Mark Gengenbacher of Los Angeles, California; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Donna (Richard) Sabol of Streator and Carol Brockman of Ottawa; a special friend, Ronald Yedinak of Streator; many nieces and nephews also survive.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Claudette Bendar; and brothers in law, Donald Bednar and Glenn Brockman.

  Born and raised in Streator, she attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1957.  She lived in Streator her lifetime.

  She worked through the years at St. Mary’s School and also in the church rectory.  She later worked for Dr. Ricca as a receptionist.

  She was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.
