Dorothy A. “Toby” Leskanich, 92, of Galena and formerly of Streator passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Galena – Stauss Senior Care Community Nursing Home in Galena.

  Funeral services will be at 12:00 P.M. Thursday, September 19th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Thursday, September 19th at the funeral home.

  Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator.

  Born November 24, 1931 in Streator she was the daughter of Paul and Lillian (Bedecker) Micklos.  She married George J. Leskanich, Jr. on August 31, 1955 in Streator.  He preceded her in death.

  She is survived by a daughter, Lilann (Ken) Lyons of Galena; a grandson, Ryley (Amanda) Lyons of Marion, Iowa; great grandchildren, Jaxen and Raegan Lyons of Marion, Iowa; sisters in law, Loretta Donelson of Arizona and Anne Marie Panno of Streator; several nieces and nephews also survive.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Paula Leskanich; her grandson, Nathan Lyons; and a sister and brother in law, Betty and Howard Brue.

  Born and raised in Streator, she attended Streator schools and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1949.  She later attended the Rockford School of Beauty Culture.  Toby was a hairdresser and owned and operated her own Beauty Shop for 64 years until her retirement.

  She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Streator Matrons. She also traveled through years with the Rosalynn Hupp Dance Troupe.
