  Edward J. Mollo, 97, of Streator passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at the ARC of Streator in Streator, Illinois.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, November 28th at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church, Streator.  Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.

  Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 28th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  The rosary will be recited at 8:45 A.M.

  Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.  Pallbearers will be Pat Gibbons, Mike Burnett, Nick McFadden, Andy Blakemore and Josh Blakemore.  Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.

  Born March 31, 1926 in Streator he was the son of Andrew and Mary (Fellner) Mollo.  He married Marie Enno on October 28, 1950 at Immaculate Conception Church, Streator.  She preceded him in death on December 12, 2017.

  He is survived by a son, Edward A. (Darcy) Mollo of Streator; granddaughters, Jennifer (Krissy) Mollo of Ormond Beach, Florida and Michelle (Niki Drane) Mollo of Ormond Beach, Florida; several nieces and nephews also survive.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and sisters, Margaret Courey and Evelyn Devera.

  Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1944.

  He served in the United States Army during WWII.  While in the service he served in the Philippines and Japan.

  Early in his career Ed worked for Hills Brothers and Super Dairy as an ice cream and candy maker.  He later worked for Streator High School as a Custodian from 1976 until his retirement in 1996.

  He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.  He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492, Streator Eagles Club and the Polish National Alliance.
