Elmer S. Garrison

Elmer S. “Bunky” Garrison, 86, of Streator passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Ottawa Pavilion in Ottawa.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 P.M. Monday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Rev. Caleb Suydam will officiate.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Born March 15, 1935 in Forrest he was the son of Elmer and Aulta (Kiest) Garrison. He married Marolyn J. Hansen on December 31, 1955. She preceded him in death on January 14, 2021.

He is survived by sons, Mark (Judy) Garrison of Streator, Doug Garrison of Catawba, North Carolina and Paul (Chris) Garrison of Streator; grandchildren, Zach Garrison of Streator, Jessica (Phillip) Closner of North Carolina, Stuart Garrison of North Carolina, Madilynn Mahaffey of Streator and Nick Flynn of Peoria several nieces and nephews also survive; sisters, Carole (Larry) Cain of Ottawa, Judith Mclennan of Ottawa, Nancy (Lafayette) Price of Broughton and Cherilyn (David) Wujek of Galesburg; and a sister in law, Dolores Garrison of Barstow, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; siblings and spouses, Ruth and Don Clippinger, Verneal (Betty) Garrison, Zella Garrison, Merle (Gertrude) Garrison, Robert (Eileen) Garrison, Marilyn June (William) Barth, Marcia (Kent) Crouch and Russell Garrison; and a brother in law, Robert Mclennan.

Born in Forrest, Illinois he was raised in Ottawa and attended Ottawa schools and Ottawa High School.

He worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company for over 50 years until his retirement.

He was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church, Streator Moose Lodge, Streator Elk’s Club and the Streator Eagles Club.

Elmer and his wife Marolyn enjoyed dancing through the years.

Family was the most important thing to him. He loved following his grandchildren in their various sports and activities. He will be dearly missed by his loving family.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
