Emmett M. Horaney

Emmett M. Horaney, 72, of Ancona passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at his residence in Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Friday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Fr. Ryan Mattingly will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Friday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Masks will be required and social distancing will be adhered to.

Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Born February 13, 1949 in Streator he was the son of Melvin and Virginia (Mogee) Horaney. He married Florence “Flossie” Hrasch on July 7, 1967.

He is survived by his wife, Florence “Flossie” Horaney of Ancona; sons, Emmett Mike Horaney Jr. of Streator, Jeff (Chauntel) Horaney of Grove City, Ohio and Jon (Julie) Horaney of Streator; grandchildren, Jake, Sydney, Max, Grayson, Maddox, Fisher and Emmett James Horaney; Jerry, Chris and Bendon Lillie; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Jane (Rev. Ray) Harrison of Chillicothe and Joanne (Ed) Holt of Bullock, Texas; and a brother, William (Brenda) Horaney of Bettendorf, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter in law, Tricia Horaney.

Born and raised in Streator he attended local grade schools and Streator High School.

He worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company for 12 years and later worked for Exelon Corporation for over 25 years retiring in 2007.

He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church. He was also a member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council # 790.

He enjoyed entertaining family & friends at his home by the river, a pontoon ride down the Vermilion, bird watching in his back yard, and a good hand of poker.

Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
