Eric J. DeLong, 57, of Streator passed away Monday, October 24, 2022 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator.
Born August 23, 1965 in Streator he was the son of Alvin and Judith (Holt) DeLong. He married Dawn Marie Guddendorf on September 16, 2006 in Aurora. She preceded him in death on October 4, 2011.
He is survived by his parents, Alvin and Judith DeLong of Streator; brothers, Todd DeLong of Streator, Kevin (Stephanie) DeLong of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and Matt (Kristin) DeLong of Pontiac; nephews and nieces, Tessa (Sam) Mackinson of Pontiac, Stephanie DeLong of Louisville, Kentucky, Kalee (Jamie) Adams of Denver, Colorado, Kyle DeLong of Pontiac, Keegan DeLong of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and Alvin DeLong of Pontiac; great nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Born and raised in Streator he graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1983. He earned two Bachelor’s Degrees from Illinois State University in Business and Education. He also earned his Master’s Degree in Education.
He taught 8th grade at St. Mary’s Grade School through the years.
He was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church. He was also a former member of the Streator Lions Club and had served as the past-President.
Eric loved to learn and read and was especially interested in History. He was a great story teller. He also was an avid football and Chicago Bear fan. He followed Streator High School, Illinois State and Northern Illinois football teams.
Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
