Ernest Maubach Obituary

  Ernest “Ernie” D. Maubach, 74, of Streator passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at his residence in Streator.

  Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.

  Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Friday January 7, 2022 at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home.

   Burial will be at Phillips Cemetery, Streator.  Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.   Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and Carl Seroka, Tom Aukland, John Coley, Les Berta and Kevin Porter.  Cremation rites have been accorded.

  Born on December 9, 1947 in Streator, he was the son of Raymond and Bertha (Kramer) Maubach.  He married Carol (Pallai) Maubach on December 8, 1995 in Ottawa. 

  He is survived by his wife, Carol Maubach of Streator; a daughter, Allison (Aron Compton) Maubach of Streator; a son, Aaron Maubach of Streator; stepsons, Jimmy Pitte of Streator, Jason (Michelle) Pitte of Streator; grandchildren, Chase Compton, Carter Compton, Haley Maubach, Ashlyn Maubach, Adyson Maubach; step-grandchildren, Justin Pitte, Malayna Pitte; sisters, Evelyn (Robert) Neuhalfen of Dwight, Janice Taylor of Pontiac; brothers, Raymond “Gene” (Diane) Maubach of Minooka, William “Bill” Maubach of Streator and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

  He was preceded in death by his parents.

  Raised in Manville, Ernie graduated from Woodland High School in 1966.  Shortly after graduation, was drafted into the United States Army and served his country in the Vietnam War from 1966-1968.  He was employed at GTE for several years before working for the City of Streator in the Public Works Department.  Ernie retired as the head of the City of Streator Streets Department in 2006.

  Ernie was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1492 and a member of the Eagles Club.  He enjoyed taking snowmobiling trips to Wisconsin and was always willing to help others.  He loved spending time on the river, at his cabin, or on his pontoon with his family, friends, and his dog, Bailey.  He will be dearly missed.
