Eugene T. “Gene” Harcharik, 83, of Streator passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022 at O.S.F. St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Fr. Austin Bosse will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Wednesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 8:45 A.M.
Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be John Barickman, Rob Miller, Dean Salz, Tim Durree, Dave Sickley and Jim Palochko.
Born February 13, 1939 in Streator he was the son of George and Nellie (Gzronka) Harcharik. He married Barbara A. Sickley on March 21, 1992 at St. Anthony Church, Streator.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Harcharik of Streator; brothers, Jerry (Lynn) Harcharik of Streator and Tom (Lila) Harcharik of Salinas, California; several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald Harcharik and his sister, Rosemary Smith.
Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1957.
Gene worked for Thatcher’s Glass Manufacturing for 40 years in the Traffic Department.
He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Parish. He was a member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council #790 and the 4th Degree Streator Assembly 2109 of the Knights of Columbus. He was active with the 4th Degree funeral Honor Guard. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Golf League and the Streator Dream Machine Car Club.
Gene was an avid golfer and enjoyed many rounds along with his wife Barbara. They were longtime members of Twin Creeks Golf Course as well as the Streator Country Club.
