Evelyn Palko Obituary

  Evelyn M. Palko, 100, of Streator passed away Monday, January 10, 2022 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

  Because of the pandemic, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be held.  Private family visitation will be immediately before the Mass at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  

  Private burial will take place in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.  Family members will serve as pallbearers.

  Born September 3, 1921 in Ancona she was the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Krazcanko) Palko.

  She is survived by a sister, Theresa Dever of Lousiville, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Elaine Palko of Streator; nieces and nephews; Mark (Liz) Dever of Louisville, Kentucky, Matt (Kelli) Dever of Oxnard, California, Vicki Palko of Streator, Judy (Bob Boston) Palko of Des Moines, Iowa, Greg (Connie) Palko of Fairfax, Iowa, Pam (Sid) Sawyer of Sydney, Australia, Karen (Mike Belcher) Grevemberg of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and William Salz of Streator; and other great nieces and nephews.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Ann Palko, Irene McIntosh and Ann Salz; a brother, Andrew Palko; and nephews  Scott McIntosh and Mike Palko.

  Raised in the Ancona and Long Point area she attended Ancona Grade School and Long Point High School.

  She lived most of her lifetime in the Streator area and was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish.

  She worked through the years for Hill Brothers, the Toluca Garment Factory and Owens Illinois Glass Manufacturing until she retired.  She was also a talented seamstress through the years and did work for many local people.

  Evelyn was devoted to her family and her church; loved the outdoors and especially tending to her yard and her flower and vegetable gardens; and she also participated in many different sporting activities.

  Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
