Gail L. Araujo Obituary

Gail Lee Araujo, 82, joined our heavenly father on August 17, 2024, with her loving husband Henry Araujo, Sr. and youngest son Henry Araujo II by her side.

Private family services will be held.  The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born on March 11, 1942, in Streator Illinois to William and Nellie Bryan. Gail was the oldest of three; her siblings were her sister Sandra and brother Theodore. While growing up in Ottawa she enjoyed fishing with her father on the Illinois River. Upon the untimely death of her father, Gail helped her mother provide for the family at a young age. This dedication and passion to care for others would become her life's work and legacy within her own family.

In the summer of 1961, Gail married her soul mate Henry Araujo who she dedicated herself to for 63 years. Over those years, they raised three children of their own, Dawn Edwall, Anthony Araujo, and Henry Araujo II. As a nurturing mother, she taught her children integrity, loyalty, and compassion through her own actions. She avoided the spotlight, but devoted her entire life quietly supporting her family. Her summers evolved around vacationing in Minnesota, fishing with her family and creating the most cherished moments that her family will remember for a lifetime. Listening to her fishing stories was always a delight. She enjoyed reading cookbooks and surprising her family with new desserts.

Gail was preceded in death by William (father), Nellie (mother), Louie (stepfather). She will also be greeted by Sandra (sister) and Theodore “Teddy” (brother). She leaves behind her husband Henry Araujo, daughter Dawn Edwall, son-in-law David Edwall, son Anthony Araujo, daughter-in-law Valerie Araujo, son Henry Araujo II and daughter-in-law Alexandra Araujo, grandchildren, Dustin, Sara (Forrest), Alyssa, Sarah, Beth, Bryce, Zander and Gianna and great grandchildren, Hunter, Robert, Rhett and Knox. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren Jill Ewell and Ryan Edwall and step-great grandchildren Alden Ewell, Taylor Ewell, Emily, Ryan II, Joseph, Daniel, Ava, Jake, Jude, & Anna Edwall.
