Gaspare Atria

  Gaspare Atria, 77, of Streator passed away Monday, December 25, 2023 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria with his family by his side.

  Cremation rites will be accorded.  The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

  Born September 1, 1946 in Italy he was the son of Gabrielle and Maria (Pipitone) Atria.  He married Anna Maria Giacalone on July 22, 1972 in Italy. 

  He is survived by his wife, Anna Maria Atria of Streator; a daughter, Maria (Joseph) Dambrauskas of New Lennox; sons, Gabe Atria of Streator and Calvin Atria of Streator; grandchildren, Alesandra and Gabriella Dambrauskas of New Lennox; and Antonio (Mallory Shannon) Atria of Dayton, Ohio; a great grandson, Luca Atria of Dayton, Ohio; one sister also survives.

  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

  Born and raised in Italy he relocated to the United States in 1977.  The family originally settled in Chicago where Gaspare worked as a car body repairman for a few years.  He moved to Streator in 1982 when he had the opportunity to purchase Maria’s Pizza.  He has operated Anna’s Pizza (formerly Maria’s) since that time.

  He is of the Catholic faith and had belonged to the former Immaculate Conception Church.

  Gaspare was a hard worker who spent many hours running the Pizzeria.  He did enjoy vacationing, along with his family, back to his homeland where he still maintained a home.
