George S. Gaydos, 89, of Streator passed away Friday, December 20, 2024 at the ARC of Streator.
Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services. The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Born November 23, 1935 in Streator he was the son of John and Margaret (Majercin) Gaydos. He married Barbara Jenkins. She survives in Streator.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Gaydos of Streator; daughters, Patricia (Carl) Yeager of Florida, Carol Casey of Florida, Mary (Fred) Mueller of Streator and Beth Gaydos of Pennsylvania; sons, George (Goldie Peckham) Gaydos of Wisconsin and Kenneth (Linda) Gaydos of Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Tara Luttrell and James Carbone; sisters, Mary Ann Brewer, Louise Elias, Dolores Gaydos and Helen Gaydos; and brothers, Stephen, John Jr. and Frank Gaydos.
George worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company for 38 years in the Shipping Department. When he retired at the age of 55 he was the Head of the Department.
He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and also belonged to the Streator Eagles Club.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting through the years. Growing up in a musical family George was a very accomplished musician and played the guitar and also sang.
