George A. Lesak

George A. Lesak, 92, of Streator passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Fr. Ryan Mattingly will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church.

Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Luke Lesak, Grant Lesak, Justin Lesak, Robert Lesak, Samuel Lesak, Kurtis Lesak, Brett Ainsley and Cody Ainsley.

The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Born April 20, 1928 in Streator he was the son of Alex and Mary (Bartko) Lesak. He married Rosemary Gutek on July 26, 1949 at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Lesak of Streator; sons, Richard (Sallie) Lesak of Streator, Ronald (Kathy) Lesak of Streator, Thomas (Marta) Lesak of Alvin and Daniel (Cathy) Lesak of Huntley; a daughter, Susan (David) Ainsley of Streator; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, sisters, Millie Evans of Streator and Theresa (Charles) Cassady of Plainfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one granddaughter, Michelle Lesak.

Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School. He lived in Streator his lifetime.

He was a welder for the Streator Dependable and retired after 36 years at Nicor Gas Company.

He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.

He was 3rd Degree member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council # 790 for over 73 years.

He enjoyed boating, water skiing and camping. He had a green thumb and loved his gardening and making homemade wine. He was also an avid card player and euchre was his favorite.
