A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Solon-Telford Funeral Home in Streator.
Born January 20, 1958 in Streator, he was the son of John Weston Gallup and Rosa Lee (Henson) Gallup. He married Heidi Renee (Chrisman) Gallup on February 12, 1999 in Burlington, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Heidi; children, Joshua (Jessica) Gallup of New London, Iowa, Ashley (Larry) Applebee of Grand Ridge, Emily Johnson (Dalton Schindler) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jacob Hicks of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Mykenzie, Hailee, Madison Applebee, Jaxson Gallup; sister, Vivian Breckenridge; special friends Randy (Sherry) Carver and Jason Fiedler and family; in-laws; copious amounts of nieces, nephews, cousins and his wiener dog, Milo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joy Keith; brothers, John and Steve Gallup; and his dog, Mikke.
Born in Streator and raised in the surrounding communities, he graduated from Lostant High School, in the Class of 1975.
Over the years, Jerry worked in construction and as a factory worker until becoming disabled. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching Westerns, mushroom hunting, playing cards and telling tall tales. He loved to take Milo to the park, working on wood projects and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren.
During the last ten years, Heidi has cared diligently for Jerry to give him as comfortable of a life as possible as the effects of his brain injury advanced. As a Born Again Christian, Jerry will be joining his family in Heaven, hopefully to catch “The Big One”. His family appreciates all the thoughts and prayers. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Illinois Valley Brain Injury Clubhouse in Streator.
