Glen A. “Hep” Hepner, 69, of Streator, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 8, 2025, surrounded by his family.

  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, at Solon-Telford Funeral Home.

  Visitation will take place from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

  Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Lucas, Scott Lucas, Craig Hepner, Ron Urbance, Mark Novak, and Rick Weimken.

  Born on October 29, 1955, in Streator, Glen was the son of Paul and Lucille (Novak) Hepner. On September 2, 2000, he married Kathy (Nolan) Gebhardt, who survives.

  He is also survived by his children; Casey (Brad) Sorenson of Virginia, Paul (Michele) Hepner of Virginia, Jennifer (Matt) McMullen of Streator, Shelly (Tony) Strand of Minnesota, Scott (Shelby Kappel) Gebhardt of Indiana, and Lisa (Tim) Rodrick of Iowa; his beloved grandchildren; Evan, Oliver, and Anderson Hepner, Christopher Sorenson, Liv Strand, and Hank McMullen; and his sister, Nancy Hepner of Streator.

  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ken Hepner.

  Glen was a graduate of Streator High School, Class of 1973, and a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He dedicated 35 years of hard work as a pipefitter with Local 597. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling, baseball, and softball. Glen was a Chicago Bears and White Sox fan, enjoyed cooking, watching game shows and old movies, online shopping, golfing, and meeting his friends for breakfast. 

  Though known affectionately around town as “Grumpy Glen,” those who truly knew him understood his big and generous heart. He loved dogs and was never without one in his home. He was devoted to his family, and especially adored his grandchildren, spoiling them with gifts on birthdays and holidays, always ensuring they felt special and loved.
