Gregory G. McAllister

Gregory G. McAllister, 77, of Ottawa passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Ottawa Pavilion in Ottawa, Illinois.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator. Pallbearers will be Bob “Willy” Williamson, Jim Cantrell, Kyle Cantrell, Aaron Flatt, Greg McAllister and Earl McAllister. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.

Born March 21, 1944 in Streator he was the son of George and Marilyn (Pile) McAllister.

He is survived by his brother, Earl (Ronna) McAllister of Streator; a sister, Sharon (Tom) Casey of Streator; many nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandparents, Enos and Edna Pile and Marie McAllister.

He was born and raised in Streator and attended Streator grade schools and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1963. He worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company before being drafted in the United States Army in October of 1966. He spent a year in Vietnam from September 1967 until September 1968 before being honorably discharged in October of 1968. He then spent 32 years working for GE Plastics in Ottawa.

Memorials may be directed to the Illinois Veteran’s Home in LaSalle.
