Gregory D. Ward, 68, of Streator passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at his residence in Streator.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Born January 3, 1953 in Streator, he was the son of Edward and Georgene (Wright) Ward. He married Wendy Clayton on December 14, 1973 in Ottawa.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Ward of Streator; a brother, Bob Ward of Streator; a sister, Michelle Younglove of Troy Grove; sister in law, Kathy (Chuck) Ragusa of Streator; a brother in law, Jack (Sandy) Clayton of Coal City; nieces and nephews, Jason, Jessica, Jeff and Stacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Jack and Jean Clayton; sister in law, Sally Sidwell; a brother in law, Dennis Younglove and a nephew, J.C. Clayton.
Born and raised in Streator, Greg attended Northlawn Grade School and Streator Township High School.
Following high school he served in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam.
He worked through the years for Transco and Wickes Lumber. He was a Gunsmith by trade and ran his own business.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492 and served as the bar chairman with the club. He also belonged to the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and Sandy Ford Sportsman’s Club.
