Harrison G. Park

  Harrison G. “Harry” Park, 76, of Streator passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at the Arc of Streator surrounded by his loving family.

  Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 2nd at the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Streator.  Rev. Bill Callister will officiate.

  Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Friday, May 1st at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  Further visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the services on Saturday at the church.

  Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.  Private family burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park at a later date.

  Born February 10, 1950 in Bloomington, he was the son of Adolf and Wilhelmina “Minnie” (Folkerts) Park.  He married Ellen M. Fitzgerald on November 16, 1974 at St. Isidore Church in Bethany, Illinois.

  He is survived by his wife, Ellen Park of Streator; sons, Bryan (Tiffany) Park of Streator; Brad (Leah) Park of Hudson; grandchildren, Ella, Riley, Tyler and Reese; a sister, Marion Gourley of Pontiac; many of his loved nieces and nephews also survive.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brent Michael in infancy; a grandson, Ethan; brothers, Arnold, Harold, and Eugene Park; and a sister, Ethelyn Klein.

  Harry was raised on a farm outside of Magnolia and attended Magnolia Swaney Grade School before graduating from Putnam County High School in 1968.  He then graduated from Illinois State University where he majored in Education.  While at I.S.U. he was a member of the men’s basketball team. It was also at I.S.U. that he met the love of his life, Ellen. 

  Harry spent his career working in various roles for the City of Streator within the Public Works and Parks Departments. Most notably, he served as Superintendent for Anderson Fields Golf Course. 

  He was an active member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and served many roles in the church, especially on the Annual Pancake Day committee.

  Harry was synonymous with the Streator community.  He was very active in youth sports both coaching and officiating where he affected the lives of so many. Harry was an original member of the Streator Youth Soccer Board. He began his coaching career in Flanagan where he helped coach the Falcons to the 1974 State Football Championship. After Flanagan, “Coach Harry” coached basketball at Streator High School for over 40 years. 

  More than anything, Harry was a fun-loving person who left a positive impression on all he crossed paths with.  He was a role model for so many and a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by all he knew. 

  Memorials may be directed to the Streator High School Foundation in order to establish an annual scholarship in Harry’s name.
