James P. “Jim” Anderson, 82, of Streator passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021 at his residence in Streator.
There will be no services. Cremation rites will be accorded. The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Born September 7, 1938 in Sandusky, Ohio he was the son of Nelson and Esther (Metzner) Anderson. He married Victoria “Vicky” Harcharik on August 7, 1965. She survives in Streator.
He is also survived by a son, Eric (Rae Ane) Anderson of Streator; grandchildren, Todd and Jenna Anderson; and a brother, Robert Anderson of The Villages, Florida.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Jackie, Richard and Sonny Anderson; and sisters, Elizabeth Durfee and Sally Sperry.
Born in Ohio Jim came to the area when he was 9 years old. He attended Palestine Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1955.
He lived and farmed most of his life in the Otter Creek Township area.
Through the years he belonged to the LaSalle County Agriculture Board, LaSalle County Soil and Water Conservation Board, Illinois State Agriculture Board, Ransom Elevator Board and the Allen and Otter Creek Townships Board.
Jim and his family operated Eric’s Pumpkin Patch for over 40 years in Otter Creek Township. Many generations of area families embark on the Pumpkin Patch as their annual fall ritual.
He was an avid golfer who enjoyed golfing daily no matter what the weather. He once golfed every day of the year.
His main passions were golf, pumpkins, farming and especially his grandchildren. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Association.
