James A. Englert Obituary

  James A. Englert, 72, of Streator went to be with the Lord and reunited with his parents and other family members on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Pleasant View Lutheran Home in Ottawa surrounded by his loving family.


  Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, May 5th at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.


  Visitation will be from 8:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Monday, May 5th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.


  Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Streator.  Pallbearers will be his brothers and brothers in law.   


  Born October 9, 1952 in Streator he was the son of Raymond and Rita (Krippel) Englert.


  He is survived by sisters, Mary Ann Berry of Streator, Kathy (Mike) Hillyer of Streator and JoAnn (Charlie) O’Kraski of Streator; brothers, William (Carol) Englert of Streator, Don (Felicia) Englert of Williams Bay, Wisconsin, Gerald (Diane) Englert of Streator and Robert (Sylvia) Englert of Pleasanton, California; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.


  He was preceded in death by his parents; nieces, Miranda and Cassandra Englert and nephews, Kirk and Luke Englert.


  Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Anthony Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1972.


  He worked through the years for Jero Black and DSI.  He later delivered newspapers in Streator until his retirement.


  He was a member of the former St. Anthony Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.


  Jim was a kind soul who loved his family very much. He and his siblings shared many fond childhood memories which they all cherish.  He helped take care of his mother until her death in 2017. He could be seen at many local events through the years including carnivals, parades, fireworks and sporting events.  In his younger years he enjoyed traveling on many different bus trips.  He will be dearly missed by his loving family.


  Memorials may be directed to the Pleasant View Lutheran Home or VITAS Hospice.
