James H. Lynch

James H. “Jim” Lynch, 70, of Streator passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at Alden-Park Strathmoor Rehabilitation and Health Care in Rockford.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:00 A.M. Friday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Fr. Ryan Mattingly will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Thursday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 6:45 P.M.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be Chad Wahl, Wally Roach, Mike Hagerty, Robert Wood, Chris Peterson and Rob Allen.

Born July 5, 1950 in Streator he was the son of James and Agnes (O’Neil) Lynch. He married Donna Russow on May 1, 1987 at St. Anthony Church, Streator. She survives in Streator. In late 1991 Jim and Donna adopted their son, Henry from Bogota Columbia, South America. He also survives in Streator along with his daughter, Cecelia.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School.

After high school he worked for the Streator Dependable for 10 years. In 1982 he joined the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department in Ottawa. He worked there for 23 years and has been retired for 15 years.

He was a member of the former St. Anthony Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. He was also a member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knight of Columbus Council # 790.

He enjoyed having coffee every morning with all of his friends until he became ill with a lung disease in July of 2020. It was a long battle of suffering when he reached his final days of peace and left behind his loved ones. He was a totally devoted husband, father and grandfather.

One day we will depart on a journey free of cost, don’t worry about the seat reservation, it is confirmed. The flight is always on time. Our good deeds will be our luggage. Humanity will be our passport. Love will be our visa. Make sure we do our best to travel to heaven in business class.

Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
