James “Jim” R. Stansfield, 70, of Streator passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at O.S.F. St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Bloomington. 

  Private funeral services will be held at Solon-Telford Funeral Home in Streator.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park at a later date.  Cremation rites will be accorded.

  Born September 28, 1955 in Streator, he was the son of James Richard David Stansfield Sr. and Alice (Morgan) Stansfield.  He married Becky (Almeda) Stansfield on June 30, 1979 in Ottawa.  

  He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Michelle Stansfield of Bloomington; a son, James Michael Stansfield of Bloomington; a sister, Pam Jolly of Minonk; his mother-in-law Bette Almeda; brother-in-law, Jim (Anjie) Almeda of Bloomington; a sister-in-law, Jane Kreier of Streator; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mary Lou Nicklin and Patty Stansfield; brothers-in-law, Gary Jolly and Fritz Nicklin; and his father-in-law, Raymond Almeda.

  Born and raised in Streator, he attended local grade schools and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1973.

  Jim worked at R.R. Donnelley & Sons as a plate maker until his retirement in 2011.  He was a member of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217.  He was of Episcopalian Faith.

  Jim enjoyed golfing, scratch off lottery tickets and never missed the daily lotto.  He also loved to participate in multiple fantasy football leagues.  Jim was an avid fan of the Los Angeles Rams, the New York Yankees and Bud Light.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
