Jean A. Chamness, 88, of Streator passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at O.S.F. St. James Medical Center in Pontiac.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Rev. Fr. Ryan Mattingly will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Wednesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be Adam Chismar, Logan Chismar, Dan Missel, Jeff Harris, Brian Cochran, and Matt Washko
Born July 8, 1930 in Streator she was the daughter of Michael and Pauline (Voytko) Pavlick. She married Edward Chismar. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1972. She later married Luther “Luke” Chamness on November 24, 1973. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1997.
She is survived by a daughter Theresa (Dan) Missel of Streator; a son, Paul Chismar of Streator; step-children, Chris Chamness of Wisconsin, Martha Chamness-Reese of Wisconsin, Steve (Janice) Chamness of Kirkwood, Missouri and Tim (Vicki) Chamness of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Megan (Jeff) Harris of Colfax, Adam (Amanda) Chismar of Nashville, Tennessee, Lauren (Brian) Cochran of Sterling, Logan Chismar of Lake Tahoe, California, Brianne (Matt) Washko of Pontiac, Edward Chismar Jr. of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Audrey (Daniel) Lenzi of Cedar Crest, New Mexico, Nathan Chismar of Washington State and Laura Chamness of Austin, Texas; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Florence Roberts of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Josephine (Jim) Sward of North Carolina and Paulette (Robert) Russell of California; brothers, Michael (Margaret) Pavlick of Streator and John (Romay) Pavlick of Huntsville, Alabama; many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both her husbands; a son, Edward Chismar; a brother, Thomas Pavlick; and a sister, Rosemary Schmitt and one sister, Irene in infancy.
Born and raised in Streator she attended Streator schools.
She worked as a hairdresser out of her home for a few years. She was primarily a homemaker through the years.
She was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
