Jeanne R. Mathy

  Jeanne R. Mathy, 74, of Chebanse passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at her daughter's home in Streator.

  Cremation rites will be accorded. In accordance with Jeanne's wishes and those of her family, there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Solon-Telford Funeral Home.

  Jeanne was born on April 15, 1952, in Kankakee, the daughter of Howard and Melba (Droste) Meyer. She married Joseph Mathy on June 3, 1972. He preceded her in death on October 14, 2020.

  She is survived by her mother, Melba Meyer of Chebanse; her son, Jason (Michelle) Mathy of Chebanse; her daughter, Jennifer (Adam) McMullen of Streator; and her grandchildren, Andie (Nina) Crowley, Kaylee Mathy, Anna (Logan) Williamson, Charli McMullen, Wyatt McMullen, and Brooklynne Mathy.

  She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Meyer, and her brother, James Meyer.

  Jeanne was raised in Chebanse. She attended Zion Lutheran School and graduated from Central High School. She worked for many years as an administrative assistant and was of the Lutheran faith.

  Jeanne was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was proud to have married her high school sweetheart and loved and supported her husband throughout his career in politics, standing by his side with quiet strength and encouragement.

  She was also a wonderful mother who showed her love through the little things she did every day. She made sure her family started the day with a hot breakfast and came home to a homemade dinner nearly every night while her children were growing up. She created a home where her family always knew they were loved and cared for.

  Jeanne took great joy in being a grandma and, when her grandchildren were young, she was deeply involved in their lives, cherishing every opportunity to cook and craft with them.

  Jeanne also had a special place in her heart for her dogs, who brought her years of companionship and happiness.

  She will be remembered for her quiet love, her unwavering devotion to her family, and the countless everyday acts of care that meant so much to the people who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed.
