Jeanne Mae Schmitt

  Jeanne Mae Schmitt, 75, of Streator passed away Friday, December 30, 2022 at O.S.F. St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.

  Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. 

  Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

  Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Leonore. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Dylan, Justin, and Cameron Groesbeck, son-in-law Jeff Groesbeck, and nephews Nathan Schmitt and Brandon Cate.  Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters Nora Groesbeck and Ella Schmitt, and great -grandchildren Chrissy and Dawson Groesbeck and Kendall Draper.

  Jeanne was born November 8, 1947 to Albert and Millie Salz.  She married Allen Schmitt on July 22, 1967.  Surviving are her husband Allen, daughter Dawn (Jeff) Groesbeck, son Doug (Becky) Schmitt, grandchildren Dylan, Justin, Cameron and Nora Groesbeck and Ella Schmitt, great-grandchildren Chrissy and Dawson Groesbeck and Kendall Draper, brother Dean Salz of Streator, sister Phyllis (Doug) Cate of Tonica, sister-in-law Carol Wolf of Skokie, brother-in-law Ron (Ruth) Schmitt of Woodstock, and sister-in-law Sheila (Jeff) Burnette of Elgin.

  She is preceded in death by her parents Al and Millie Salz, her in-laws Ed and Margaret Schmitt, sister-in-law Donna Schmitt, brother-in-law Bill Wolf, niece Chrissy Vogel and nephew David Cate.

  Jeanne attended Lostant grade schools and graduated from Streator High School.  She was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church.  Memorials may be directed to the family.
