Jeffrey L. Arenz, 50, of Streator passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at O.S.F Center for Health in Streator.

  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M Thursday, March 20, 2025 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in LaSalle.  Father Jeffrey Small will officiate.

  Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Solon-Telford Funeral Home in Streator.  Additional visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 10:15 A.M. Thursday, March 20, 2025 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Lasalle.

  Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Streator. 

  Born on October 26, 1974, Jeff was the son of Leonard and Judy (Sarosinski) Arenz.

  He is survived by his parents; a great aunt, Kathy Rizzo of Peru; a great uncle, Sal (Maxine) Rizzo of Dalzell; a cousin, Kristi (Jeremy) Pabian of Marseilles and several other cousins also survive.

  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Edward and Frances Sarosinski; paternal grandparents, Leonard and Ann Arenz and uncle and aunt Richard and Linda Sarosinski.

  Born in Peru and raised in rural Streator, Jeff attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School, Class of 1992.  He attended Illinois Valley Community College and earned an Associates Degree in Arts and Sciences.

  Over the years, Jeff worked as a sports journalist at a multitude of media outlets.  In more recent years he focused on becoming a paginator, concentrating on newspaper page design.

  Jeff loved sports and liked being involved with them.  He enjoyed covering the local sports where he was residing.  He especially enjoyed compiling and then analyzing the statistics from the games.  He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears and University of Illinois football and basketball teams.

   Memorials may be directed to the family or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
