Jerry M. Myers, 80, of Streator passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Manor Court in Peru.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 P.M. Monday, July 22nd at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.

  Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. Monday, July 22nd at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.  Private family burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

  Born June 2, 1944 in Streator he was the son of Francis and Cathryn (O’Neill) Myers.  He married Cheryl Kinkade on January 31, 1975.

  He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Myers of Streator; children, John “Jack” (Erika) Myers of Charlotte, North Carolina, Amy (Brandon) Stetzler of Mackinaw, Jerry Myers II of Streator and Brian (Jennifer) Myers of Peru; grandchildren, Benjamin, Olivia, Preston, Paige, Harper, Beckham Myers; and Gunner Stetzler; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Donald, William and Jack Myers.

  Born in Streator he grew up in Ransom and attended Ransom Grade School.  He later graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1963.  He attended the Illinois State Police Academy in Springfield in 1968.

  Jerry served as an Illinois State Police Officer for over 30 years retiring in 1999.  In his retirement he worked for a time at Oak Ridge Golf Course.

  He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council # 790 and the Streator Kiwanis.  He also served for many years on the LaSalle County Board.

  A staunch Republican Jerry enjoyed politics and serving his community.  He enjoyed golfing, country music and traveling with his wife on several different cruises.  They recently visited Pearl Harbor which was a dream of his.  He was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox fan.  Jerry’s family meant the world to him.  He would light up when with his grandchildren.  He will be dearly missed by his loving family.
