Joanie F. Miller, 74, of Streator passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024 at her residence in Streator.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 9th at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.

  Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Thursday, August 8th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  The rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M.

  Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.  Cremation rites have been accorded.

  Born December 17, 1949 in Ottawa, she was the daughter of John and Alvida (Chalkey) Ftacek.  She married Charles R. Miller on August 11, 1980.  He preceded her in death on May 11, 2013.

  She is survived by a daughter, Amy (Scot) Stringfellow of Austin, Texas; a grandson, Cameron Stringfellow; her mother, Alvida Demko of Streator; and brothers, John (Judy) Ftacek of Georgetown, Texas and Jerry Ftacek of Streator.

  She was preceded in death by her father; her husband; and a sister in law, Kathy Ftacek.

  Born and raised in Streator, she attended Woodland School and graduated High School in the class of 1967.  She later attended Western Illinois University.

  Joanie lived in Minonk for 26 years before returning to Streator in 2006.

  She worked through the years for NICOR as a mechanic for 6 years, as a teacher’s aide at Minonk Fieldcrest School and at the Minonk Post Office as a clerk.  After returning to Streator Joanie volunteered at St. Michael’s School for nearly 20 years.  She also volunteered with the Lady Bakers at St. Stephen’s and delivered Meals on Wheels for several years.

  Joanie was a woman of great faith who loved her family very much.  She will be dearly missed.
