John V. Lamango, 88, of Streator passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024 at O.S.F. St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator.

  Born May 5, 1936 in Streator he was the son of Anthony and Susie (Marcelli) Lamango.

  He is survived by nieces and nephews, Carl (Erica) Mickelson of Ottawa, Teresa Mickelson of Streator, Marc Lamango of Streator, Luana Lamango of Streator and Lisa (Nathan) Clift of Streator; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews also survive.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; 8 siblings; a niece and great nephew, Debra Ann and Joey Stortz; a niece, Carla Jean Rosales; and a great nephew, Terry Campbell, Jr.

  Born and raised in Streator he attended local grade schools and Streator High School.

  He served in the United States Army from 1954-1958.  While in the service he spent time in Germany.

  He worked for Anchor Glass Company for over 40 years.  He later worked at St. Mary’s School as a custodian.

  John loved fishing, going to the YMCA and especially family gatherings and family dinners.
