John A. Natt Obituary

John A. Natt, 76, of Streator passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the ARC in Streator.


  Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 14th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  Pastor Rodney Kreier will officiate.


  Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Monday, July 14th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. 


  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.  Pallbearers will be family members.  Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Murphy, Colton Murphy and Todd Russow.  Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492 and the Long Point American Legion Post 1217.


  Born December 6, 1948 in Streator, he was the son of Stephen and Mary (Harbach) Natt.  He married Joyce (Shepard) Natt on June 10, 1972, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Streator.


  He is survived by his sisters, Margaret Vercimak of New Lenox, Irene Russow of Ancona; brother, Tony (Denise) Natt of Streator; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Shepard of Streator, Karen Baker of Tonica, Doris Shepard of Streator, Donna Lowe of Ottawa; many nieces and nephews also survive.


   He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; his parents; sister, Mary Jean Dudak; brother, Steven Natt; sisters-in-law, Nancy Otto, Judy Fialko, JoAnn Shepard, Karen Shepard, Jamie Shepard; brothers-in-law, Walter “Bud” Shepard, Marvin Shepard, Marshall Shepard, Richard “Dick” Shepard, Gary “Duke” Shepard, William Vercimak, Ed Dudak, Gary Russow, Wayne Lowe, Dale Otto, Bob Fialko and Roger Baker.


  Born and raised in Streator, he attended Wilson Grade School and graduated from Woodland High School in the class of 1967.


  He served in the United States Army from 1967-1969 during the Vietnam War.  He served as a Sergeant in the 196 Light Infantry.


  Over the years, John worked at Thatcher Glass Company, Kettman Heating and Cooling and Peabody Myers.  He retired from Caterpillar in Pontiac.


  John was a handyman that could fix anything.  He liked to draw and sketch from a young age.  He enjoyed working on 1963 Chevy Impalas and 1969 Cameros.  He loved fishing and boating and spending time at his vacation home in Missouri.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.


  Memorials may be directed to Tunnel to Towers (support for veterans to build housing) or Disabled Veterans Association.
