John R. Rhodes

  John R. Rhodes, 76, of Streator passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022 at his residence in Streator.

  Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  

  Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. 

  Burial with full military honors will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.

  Born October 4, 1945 in Streator, he was the son of Dale and Minnie Mae (Johnson) Rhodes.

  He is survived by sisters, Sharon Burleson of Herrin, Linda Benning of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Pamela (John) Hill of Streator and Vicki Evans of Ottawa; brothers, Dale Rhodes of Las Vegas, Nevada, Richard Rhodes of Tennessee and James Rhodes of Indiana; several nieces and nephews also survive.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margaret Rhodes, Marsha Mataika and Ruth Reynolds; brothers, Harry Rhodes, Donald Rhodes and his twin brother, George Rhodes.

  Born and raised in Streator, he attended Streator Grade Schools and graduated from Streator High School.

  John served in the United States Army having served in Viet Nam.

  He worked through the years for Anchor Glass Company from where he retired.

  He loved playing cards and playing bingo.

  Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
