John W. Stevens, 77, of Streator passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Streator.
Memorial Services will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 23rd at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Rev. Anne Ferguson will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Monday, January 23rd at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Full military honors will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
Born October 9, 1945 in Greenfield, Ohio, he was the son of Harold and Dorothy (Cummings) Stevens. He married Barbara Teegardin on February 22, 1969 at the First United Methodist Church in Streator.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Stevens of Streator; a daughter, Cari (John) Dudenhoeffer of Affton, Missouri; son, Jon Stevens of Streator; grandchildren, Logan and Noelle “Saury” Dudenhoeffer, Drew and Allison Stevens; nieces, Carol Stone, Linda Martin, Jeannie Lamb, Kim Teegardin, Kristie Connaro; and nephews, James Lamb, Tony Middleton, Jason Middleton and Josh Middleton; and Bob Teegardin and Mark Teegardin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Dawn Middleton and Rita Rae Lamb; and a niece, Reggie Vance.
John attended Streator Grade Schools and graduated from Streator High School in 1963. During his years at Streator High School, he participated in football wrestling, and swimming. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1967-1971.
John worked for Borg Warner/GE Plastics in Ottawa. After 30 years, he retired in 2001.
He belonged to the First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
