Joseph E. Mish

  Joseph E. Mish, 77, of Streator passed away March 31, 2023 in Streator.

  Graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Riverview Cemetery. Cremation rites will be accorded.  Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator. Full military honors will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492. 

  Joseph was born on January 12, 1946 to Joseph and Freeda (Legg) Mish in Fairmont, West Virginia.

  He is survived by sisters, Brenda Corcoran of Bloomington, Phyllis (Bill) Durdan of Grand Ridge; a niece, three nephews and close friends Tyler and Rita Griswold and Dawanna, Anne, and Jane.

  He was preceded in death by his parents.

  Joe moved to Streator at a young age and attended Kangley and Northlawn Grade Schools.  He graduated from Streator High School, class of 1963.

  After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  Joe proudly served his country for four years and was honorably discharged in 1967.  During his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

  Over the years Joe lived in Illinois, California, and settled in Wyoming where he resided for forty years.  He returned to Illinois in 2011 to help take care of his parents.  

  Memorials may be directed to Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492 Honor Guard.
