Joseph C. “Joe” Pizzolato, 76, of Streator passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at his residence in Streator.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.  Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.

  Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.  Private family burial will be held at St. Stephen’s Cemetery at a later date.

  Born August 4, 1946 in Streator he was the son of Joseph and Josephine (Cravatta) Pizzolato.  He married Mary L. Spellious on October 2, 1965 at St. Stephen’s Church.  She preceded him in death on September 12, 2020.

  He is survived by two sons, Joseph Pizzolato of Normal and Chaz Pizzolato of Streator; many nieces and nephews also survive.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a sister, Rosemary Hersheway.

  Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Stephens’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1964.

  He worked through the years at Gautschy’s, Thatcher’s (Anchor) Glass Company, Mitsubishi Automotive and retired from General Electric in Bloomington.  Joe and Mary had also operated a Janitorial Company years ago.

  He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Parish.  He was a member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council #790. He was very active with the Knights working Bingo each Sunday and volunteering at the Steak, Chicken and Haluski nights.  Known as the wine guy Joe enjoyed making homemade wine that he would give away to his many friends and acquaintances.

  Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
