Katherine Mary (Kochis) Oxarart, 69, of Streator passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood.

  Funeral services will be at 6:30 P.M. Friday, August 2nd at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until the time of the services Friday, August 2nd at the funeral home.

  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Private family burial will take place at a later date.

  Katie grew up in Streator with her brother, Andrew Kochis and her parents, Elmer and Norma (Schneider) Kochis.  She attended Mennonite Nursing College in Normal, Illinois and became a Registered Nurse.  Katie worked as a geriatrics nurse for over two decades, bringing care and her loving spirit to hundreds of local residents and their families.  Katie transitioned to public health and retired from Livingston County Health Department in 2017.

  Katie married Richard M. Oxarart on August 4, 1978.  He survives in Streator.  She is also survived by her children, Richard A. Oxarart of Murray, Kentucky, Aimee Oxarart of Bloomington and Sabrina Oxarart of Streator; a step-daughter, April Weems of Katy, Texas; she was also the loving grandmother to Melanie Mund, Colin Cottingham, Ryn Slaw and David Baran.

  Katie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She was creative and enjoyed crafting and home decorating.  She enjoyed reading and caring for her flowers and snuggling with her dogs.

  Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
