Kathleen E. Harcharik, 97, of Streator passed away peacefully Friday, December 15, 2023 at Grand View Memory Care in Peoria with her daughters by her side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 20th at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church, Streator. Rev. Fr. Ignatio Cardenas will officiate.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 20th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Chris Page, Jason Page, Amber Schupp, Eric Harcharik, Sara Krilich, Ryan Drag and Micah Drag.
Born April 30, 1926 in Streator, she was the daughter of William and Emma (Lesak) Flavel. She married Louis G. Harcharik on May 28, 1946. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1998. They had a long, loving marriage of over 52 years.
She is survived by daughters, Kathy (James) Robbins of Millington and Diane (James) Page of Peoria; grandchildren, Christopher (Ashley) Page of Tallahassee, Alabama, Eric Harcharik of Streator, Jason Page of Normal, Amber (Tony) Schupp of Washington, Ryan (Elise) Drag of Amery, Wisconsin, Micah (Holly) Drag of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and Sarah (Marko) Krilich of Oswego; step-grandchildren, Kevin (Doni) Martinez-Robbins of New Lennox and Ken (Kim) Robbins of Yorkville; 16 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sons, Richard Harcharik and Daniel Harcharik; a grandson, Jeremy Drag; sisters, Mary James and Evie Kozel; and a brother, Robert Flavel.
Born and raised in Streator, she attended local grade schools and Streator High School.
She was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and the Streator Eagles Club.
She worked for Heritage Manor Nursing Home for many years as a Nurse’s Aide where she enjoyed providing care for people.
Kitty was a loving, giving person who enjoyed helping others. Her strong faith helped her get through the loss of her two sons, Danny who died at the age of 3 and Richard at the age of 26 followed by her grandson, Jeremy who passed at the age of 24. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
