She later attended Illinois Valley Community College and Sangamon State University in Springfield where she earned her Registered Nurse license and a Bachelors Degree in Nursing.

She worked for over 30 years for St. Mary’s Hospital in various different positions. She worked as a nurse’s aide, a Registered Nurse, in the medical surgery department, quality assurance and patient education. She was also an integral part in starting the Home Health Department.

Kaye had a giving and loving heart and was proud of the mission trips that she took to Haiti. She was also very active in raising money for the trips through various different fundraisers. She was always there for anyone who needed a helping hand.

She loved to golf and travel with Donnie in their RV but her favorite destination was Hawaii. She was also an avid reader.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the St. Vincent DePaul Society a group that Kaye helped to found in Streator. She would much rather the money be used to help others.

The family would like to express their gratitude to VITAS Hospice for their loving and thoughtful care for Kaye in her final days.
