Kathryn Ann “Kitty” Rhodes, 70, of Manville passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family and devoted husband on Sunday, July 26, 2015.
A Celebration of Kitty’s life will be held Friday August 14, 2015 from 9-11 A.M. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Streator. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Born November 15, 1944 in Streator she was the daughter of Forrest and Evelyn (LaVelle) Small. She married Donald Lee Rhodes on May 25, 1963 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Streator.
She is survived by a her husband, Don, of 52 years, a son, David (Lisa) Rhodes of Long Point; daughters, Karen (David) Bigger of Pontiac, Melinda Cusick of Manville; grandchildren, Brittany Huckabee, Christian Rhodes, Brandon Bigger, Kassidy, Addison and Rylee Cusick; also a special niece, Christina (Aman) West of Albion, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James B. Small.
Born and raised in Reddick she came to Manville as a teenager. She attended Reddick grade schools and graduated from Woodland High School.
She worked for Owens Illinois Glass and then owned and operated Kitty’s Hair Affair in Streator for several years.
She was a strong and faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Streator Garden Club.
Kitty enjoyed her many family vacations to Branson, Missouri, working in her flowers and feeding her birds but especially loved spending time with al her grandchildren, family and friends.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund.
