Kenneth D. Jackson, 87, of Streator passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021 at O.S.F. St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Private family services will be held at a later date. The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Born February 4, 1934 in Beatyville, Kentucky he was the son of Brenton and Alta (Mounce) Jackson. He married Mary Lee Miller on April 14, 1969. They spent 54 wonderful years together.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Jackson of Streator; daughters, Dianna Bauer of Streator and Cheryl (John) Cinnamon of Pontiac; sons, Danny (Jill) Jackson of Marseilles, Bob Jackson of Streator, Mark Jackson of Streator and Kenny (Bridget) Jackson of Bloomington; grandchildren, David (Jaclyn) Allen, Stephanie (Ryan) Quas, Sarah (Josh) Steffen, Noah (Alicia) Jackson, Josh Jackson, Matt Jackson, Morgan Jackson and Spencer Jackson; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Gloria Perrell of Indiana and Pam McCollum of Long Point; nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Mitchell Jackson and a great grandson, Will Jackson.
Ken was born in Kentucky and came to Streator as a young boy. He attended Sherman Grade School and Streator High School.
Ken worked for the City of Streator for a total of 35 years. He served as Streator Police Officer and later became a member of the Streator Public Works Department. He retired as the Director of Public Works in 1999. He was dedicated to the city of Streator and people of the community.
He was a lifelong musician and played in various bands in the area throughout the years. He loved to entertain and had a passion for music. He also started two businesses, Showcase Video and KenMar Siding and Windows that he owned and operated for several years.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Streator Elk’s Lodge and the Streator Moose Lodge. He was also a member of the Central Church of Christ.
Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who would do anything for anybody. He will be dearly missed by his family.
