Kenneth W. Schinzel

  Kenneth W. Schinzel, 78, of Streator passed away Saturday October 7, 2023 at the Illinois Veterans Home, LaSalle.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday October 12, 2023 at Solon-Telford Funeral Home Streator with Monsignor Philip Halfacre, officiating.

  Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 AM Thursday at Solon-Telford Funeral Home.  The rosary will be recited at 8:45 A.M.

  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wenona. Full Military Rites will be accorded by members of Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.

 Mr. Schinzel was born November 7, 1944 in Streator the son of Clayton and Anne (Dzurison) Schinzel.

 Ken had been employed at Owens-Illinois Glass Company, Streator prior to his retirement in 2002. He was a Veteran of the US Army serving in Korea during the Vietnam War from 1967-1969.He was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Streator.

He is survived by one son, Jeffery (Krista) Schinzel, Ottawa, two sisters, Doris (Ronald) Hart, Normal, Betsy (Charles) Moroni, Streator and a sister-in-law, Carol Schinzel, Washington IL.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gene Schinzel.

 Pallbearers will be family and friends.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home, LaSalle.
