Kenneth R. Walkey, 85, of Streator passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 at Parker Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Streator.
Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator. Full military honors will be accorded at the cemetery. The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Born July 15, 1935 in Wathena, Kansas he was the son of Albert and Hazel (Martin) Walkey. He married Katy Austino on February 28, 1959.
He is survived by his wife, Katy Walkey of Streator; sons, John (Karen) Walkey of Streator and Kenneth Walkey of Streator; a daughter, Mary Felgenhauer of Georgetown, Illinois grandchildren, Jordan, Josh and Johnathan; a great granddaughter, Faith, Braxton and Lillian Ann; and a sister, Helen Murtaugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Joseph “Joe” Walkey.
Raised in Streator he attended Greeley Grade School and Streator High School.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He worked through the years for Anthony Company and Owens Illinois Glass Company. He later worked for Plymouth Tube for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Streator.
Ken was an avid fisherman and he especially enjoyed Muskie fishing. He designed and created fishing lures and also enjoyed collecting fishing lures. He had almost collected the entire line of South Bend lures. He was a member of the National Fishing Lure Collecting Club and was also named to the National Fishing Hall of Fame in Heyward, Wisconsin.
