Larry C. Kawiecki, 77, of Streator passed away Monday, December 13, 2021 at O.S.F. St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Bloomington.
Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no public funeral services. The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Born October 23, 1944 in Chicago he was the son of Chester and Rose (Zachocki) Kawiecki. He married Judith A. Pouk on May 3, 1969 at St. Stephen’s Church. They were married by the late Msgr. George A. Dzuryo.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Kawiecki of Streator; daughters, Suzanne (Scott) Sirianni of Streator and Hollie Kawiecki of Streator; a son, Lawrence (Belinda) Kawiecki of Utica; and grandchildren, Autumn, Ashley and Abbegail Kawiecki; Parker and Camron Sirianni; Brenden Christensen and Rileigh Zavada.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from Streator High School. After graduation he entered the United States Army serving as part of the 196th Infantry Brigade in Vietnam.
Larry worked for 42 years at Owens Illinois Glass Company as an Electrician. He also owned and operated American Eagle Electronics for many years. He was very dedicated and proud of his business.
Through the years he belonged to St. Stephen’s Church, St. Anthony Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Parish.
He was a member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council # 790, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492 and the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217.
Larry was a proud Veteran and enjoyed attending his Vietnam reunions every year. He also was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He loved 50’s and 60’s music and in his younger years played in various bands as the drummer. He will be dearly missed by his loving family.
