Larry R. Mahan, 68, of Streator passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025 at his residence in Streator.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 14th at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Streator.
Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492 and the Long Point American Legion Post 1217.
Cremation rites will be accorded. The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Born June 21, 1957 in Batavia he was the son of Robert and Lela (Bartlett) Mahan. He married Lori J. Erschen on January 17, 1997 in Streator.
He is survived by his wife Lori Mahan of Streator; a son, Matt (Stephanie) Bowman of Streator; a daughter, Sarah (Adam Fultz) Maubach of Streator; grandchildren, Ashlyn Maubach, Adyson Maubach and Ryker Fultz; brothers and sisters, Mary Van Volkenburg of Van Buren, Arkansas, Charles (Sandy) Mahan of Lepanto, Arkansas, Paul (Sally) Mahan of Alma, Arkansas, Jerry Mahan of Florida, Steve (Julie) Mahan of Van Buren, Arkansas and Donald (Norma Ybarra) Mahan of Streator; five fur kids, Piper, Milo, Charli, Remi and Jax; grand dogs, Conway and Paulie; many nieces, nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Minnie Mueller.
Born and raised in Batavia he attended Batavia schools and Batavia High School.
Larry spent 20 years serving his country in the United States Army. While in the service he was in the Army Rangers and spent time in Vietnam and Panama. He retired with the rank of Sergeant.
Following his military career he worked for Seattle Sutton, Bernardi’s and McDonald’s in Peru.
He was a member of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492. He also volunteered through the years for the Streator 4th of July committee.
Memorials may be directed to local animal shelters in Larry’s name.
