Larry P. Schell

  Larry P. Schell, 79, of Streator passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024 at O.S.F. St. James Hospital in Pontiac after a two year battle with cancer.

  Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 21st at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 21st at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  Burial will be in Long Point Cemetery in Long Point.  Cremation rites have been accorded.

  Born April 1, 1944 in Pontiac he was the son of Ogle and Thelda (Baker) Schell.  He married Nancy Redfern on January 18, 1995. 

  He is survived by his wife, Nancy Schell of Streator; a daughter, Leanne Schell of Streator; a son, Curt (Lynn) Schell of Bremerton, Washington; a step daughter, Jenna (Tony) Alwood of Hannah City; a step son, Trever (Kristy Rients) North of Hudson; grandchildren, Rufus (Jill) Schell of Bremerton, Washington and Alex Schell of Bremerton, Washington; great grandchildren, Amelie and Colton Schell; a step-grandson Lawson Alwan; step-granddaughter Taeli Baughman; step- great grandchildren Barrett and Piper Baughman; a sister, Donna (Robert) Arroyo of Streator; sisters in law, Dorothy Schell of Pontiac and Joyce Schell of Streator; a brother in law, Ronald Ward of Streator; lifelong best friends, Gary and Marlys Grant; several nieces and nephews also survive.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rita Ward; brothers, Roy Kenneth, Don and Roger Schell; and a step-grandson, Dexton North.

  He graduated from Woodland High School.

  He worked for Owens Illinois Glass Manufacturing for many years as a machine operator.  He later worked as a truck driver for Zachary Trucking.

  He was a member of the First Nazarene Church in Streator.
