Obituary

  Leland E. “Lee” Sember, 73, of Manville passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

  Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  Rev. Rodney Kreier will officiate.

  Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Friday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. 

  Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

  Born April 16, 1947 in Streator he was the son of Joe and Thillis (Coles) Sember.

  He is survived by a daughter, Shawna (Carl) Flanary of Streator; sons, Travis (Angie) Sember of Streator, Brian Sember of Ottawa and Jeff Sember of Pemberton, New Jersey; grandchildren, Hannah, Blake (Macy McMahan), Ethan, Trevor, Abbie, Brady, Brynne and Riley; a sister, Renee (Gary) Porter of Ransom; his longtime companion, Stephanie Maier of Manville; his ex-wife and the mother of his children, Pamela Sember; and nieces and nephews.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Leland Sember; and sisters, Joella Gwaltney and Sherri Warren.

  Born and raised in Streator he attended Streator grade schools, Streator High School and graduated from Woodland High School.

  After high school he attended school in New Jersey to learn the Heating and Air Conditioning Trade.  When he returned from New Jersey he became a Streator Police Officer.  He served for 25 years retiring with the rank of Lieutenant from the police department.

  He owned and operated Lee’s Refrigeration for many years and also ran Sember and Son’s Sewer and Air Conditioning.

  A man of great pride he was always working hard to accomplish his goals and achieve success.  He ran 3 businesses’ (Dalee’s Restaurant, Cozy Corner Restaurant and The Dam Bar) and took care of 13 rental homes around Streator. He was constantly on the go and coming up with new ideas.  He also loved his dogs very much.

  He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

  Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
