Lee Derek Yanello, 52, of Streator passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 19, 2022 at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be Rick Smith, Josh Schultz, Rick Schmitt, Ron Schmitt, Tom Tibbles, Kory Brown, Jim Sauers and Pete Williamson. Ron Rathbun will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Born October 3, 1969 in Streator he was the son of Joseph Yanello and Paula (Calkins) Aukland.
He is survived by his son, Nick Yanello of Streator; his mother and step-father, Paula and Tom Aukland of Streator; his father, Joseph Yanello; brother, Joe (Lisa) Yanello of Mahomet and fiancé, Missy Canale-Daugherty.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Fred and Virginia Calkins; and paternal grandparents, Mosey and Barbara Yanello.
Born and raised in Streator he attended Streator High School and Illinois Valley Community College.
He worked at Spurgeon’s while in High School and College. After college he worked alongside his mom at the Shoebox for several years. Later he owned and operated Cali’s East up until recently.
Lee was an avid sports fan and loved the Chicago Cubs and the Fighting Illini. He also enjoyed golfing. He supported local youth sports programs through the years. He was a kind and gentle man who would do anything for anybody. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and close friends.
