Lila A. Southey

Lila A. Southey, 95, of Streator passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Streator.

Funeral services for Lila will be private. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Born April 23, 1925 in Streator she was the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Depaci) Enno. She married Arthur Southey. He preceded her in death in 1968.

She is survived by daughters, Fran (Jim DeZarn) Southey of Streator and Jamie Phillips of Streator; sons, Patrick (Olga) Southey of Jacksonville, Florida and Steve (Mary) Southey of Streator; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a brother in law, Ed Mollo Sr.; several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, James Southey; a longtime friend and companion, Art Cotter; sisters, Marie Mollo, Donna Hudron, Della Beningo, Frances Wissen, Rose Enno and Lena Enno; and brothers, Anthony, Tom, Henry and Joseph Enno.

Born and raised in Streator Lila attended St. Mary’s Grade School and Streator High School. She also attended Beauty School in downtown Chicago.

She worked as a hairdresser for over 60 years running her own shop Lila’s Beauty Shop.

She was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxilary and the Streator Eagles Club.

Lila was very active in the community and always liked staying busy. She enjoyed baking her cookies and bread and loved going dancing. She particularly enjoyed Ball room dancing and following Johnny’s K’s orchestra around.
