Obituary

Linda Grube, 76, of Streator passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at her residence in Streator.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 19th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Saturday, August 19th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Streator.  Cremation rites have been accorded.

Born May 10, 1947 in Streator she was the daughter of Morris Richard and Mary (Leskanich) Grube.

She is survived by her long-time friend, Joyce Bianchi of Streator; a sister, Mary Beth (James) Sabino of Morris and a sister in law, Irene Grube of Streator; nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gerald Grube.

She attended St. Anthony Grade School and Streator High School.  She later received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.  She also received her Master’s Degree from Jane Adams School of Social Work on the U of I Chicago campus.

Linda was a born leader.  High school brought many opportunities for her. These included being the president of student council, a cheerleader, and synchronized swimming, to mention a few of her interests.  She was very proud to graduate from the University of Illinois and loved history and politics. Her passion, however, was music. Linda was a brilliant and talented musician. She was accomplished in the piano, guitar, and vocally. After college, she was a songwriter and composed the music and lyrics to her own songs, and played professionally around Chicago land.

Linda also had a passion for learning and continued her education with a Master's Degree in social work and a career as a clinical social worker in various venues.  She moved to the state of Washington where Linda acquired a Private Investigator license, working for attorneys to acquire important details for their cases.  Linda and Joyce eventually moved back to Illinois to be closer to family where she once again used her social work skills, until Videography caught her interest. She filmed weddings and Engle Lane productions, and incorporated her own music into the background. Covid put a stop to a lot of the activities she loved, so she returned to her music studio to create CDs of songs that “she wished she wrote and some she did”. Again, learning how she could use technology to create the music she loved. The family has chosen to play these songs during the visitation. Linda lived her life doing the things she loved; she would learn a new talent and master it.  She also had a deep love for animals and couldn’t stand to see any of them mistreated. She raised 4 Afghan Hounds, and a mixed breed named Piper. She was also an avid Chicago Bears fan and loved watching tennis matches.
