Louise "Weezy" McHugh

  Ethel Louise “Weezy” McHugh, 101, of Streator passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Streator.

  Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 3rd at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  Rev. Caleb Suydam will officiate.

  Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Tuesday, January 3rd at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.

  Born October 6, 1921 in Milmine, Illinois she was the daughter of Erastus and Drusilla (Votaw) Votaw.  She married Harold R. McHugh on September 25, 1945.  He preceded her in death on August 8, 1977. 

  She is survived by her daughter, Elaine DeBolt of Morton; grandchildren, Sara (Brandon) Cosby of Morton and Rebecca (Larry) Drake of Washington; great grandchildren, Emma, Kali, Micah, Cole, Talia, Aaron and Leora; and a great-great granddaughter, Ava.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Henry McHugh a daughter, Audrey Shank; and siblings, Tena Champion, Dora Peavler, Janie Schunk, Mayme Morrison, Anna Mae Beavers, Manville “Buck” Votaw, Reed Votaw, Ruby Stasko, Iva Mae Baldwin, Clara Votaw, Everett Votaw and Dwayne Votaw.

  She attended Kangley Grade School. 

  Weezy worked as a seamstress for over 60 years.  She did alterations for many people through the years including sewing the patches on the Streator Policmen’s uniforms and sewing clothing for the children in Haiti.  She worked as a seamstress for Esther Kirk and Opdyke’s. 

  She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church and belonged to the sewing group of her church.  She also assisted in cleaning the church for many years.

  She also enjoyed attending the monthly Country Western jams.  She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends

  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Park Presbyterian Church.
