Lowell Tremain Obituary

  Lowell D. Tremain, 89, of Streator passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Evergreen Assisted Living where he was residing.

  Private family burial will take place in Riverview Cemetery, Streator. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.

  The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

  Born December 19, 1932 in Clifton Hills, Missouri he was the son of Mont and Dola (West) Tremain.  He married Marie Dutko on June 28, 1958.  She preceded him in death on December 23, 2018.

  He is survived by daughters, Pamela Seubold of Plainfield, Linda Broad of Streator and Cathy Ann Skaggs of Streator; a son, Dewayne Tremain of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Wayne, Stephanie, Amber, Heather, and Kristin; seven great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Riley of Kansas City, Missouri.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Michael Tremain; great grandchildren, Chloe Broad, Aiden and Anna Belle Goode; son in law, Dr. James H. Seubold; a brother, Wayne Tremain; sisters, Cleo, Mona, Grace, Willie, Norma and Nadine; and three siblings in infancy.

  Raised in Missouri Lowell attended Missouri schools and high school.

  He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

  Through the years he worked for the Streator Dependable, Owens Illinois Glass and Pontiac Prison.  He also worked for Peabody Meyers (Vactor) for many years from where he retired.  Lowell and his good friend Red Hall painted the very first Vactor truck built in Streator.

  He was a member of the Streator Eagles Club and Sandy Ford Sportsman’s Club.

  He enjoyed fishing and hunting and hanging out with his friends.  He was a talented Leather Tooler and an artistic man.  In his spare time he did Taxidermy and painted cars.
